As many of you know, I am a big proponent of the putting classical ideas in their context – especially the idea of the Trivium within the context of the traditional seven liberal arts.
I recently came across a blogger who proposes that we have currently adopted a new seven liberal arts scenario. I thought you might find this interesting…by the way, don’t skip over the two liberal arts lists before the “new” list.

Good observation…from the Medieval model the first list describes “arts” of the liberal nature and the second “sciences”, or disciplines.
His modern seven are amusing; however, what I found interesting was the middle list. Between the first and second list, there seem to be a transformation from Liberal Arts as skills to Liberal Arts as subjects.
A school could probably put the second list in a course catalog, while having the first list on the syllabus, so to speak.
